Senior Angels Activities

Senior Angels Mission : A volunteer organization providing crisis intervention, community resource awareness and social interaction opportunities to seniors aged 55 and above to empower and enrich their lives.

In September 2003, we started the Program “Adopt a Senior”, where Families or single people can “adopt” a Senior Citizen and take care of him/her during certain hours. This program has been very successful, and we are still expanding. How was your money used? Since we are all volunteers, 100% of your money goes to the projects for our Seniors.

In 2009, we bought clothing and food, celebrated birthdays and other special occasions, had intergenerational events and field trips, set Seniors up with FREE medication and medical assistance. Further, we organized Awareness Seminars, Fundraisers and Community Outreach Programs (The Hope Bus) Some daily projects: Companionship, free glasses, help with payment on rent, electricity and fuel bills, food, house cleaning, home repairs, etc.

Our most recent project was to provide crisis intervention for a homeless woman that needed medical attention, a warm place and food.

A big gap is transportation for doctor visits, grocery shopping and other errands for our Seniors. This issue will be one of our main focuses again in 2010
